Tidepooling near Monterey
- Point Lobos State Natural Reserve — Weston Beach's shale shelves hold some of the richest pools on the coast; book the timed-entry reservation ahead — it sells out.
- Asilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove — Granite outcrops along the coast trail expose broad pool fields on a minus tide.

Best time of year
The lowest daytime tides cluster around new and full moons — early mornings in late spring and summer (May–July), and mid-to-late afternoon during the late-fall and winter king-tide cycles (November–January).
