Tidepooling near San Diego
- Cabrillo National Monument, Point Loma — The region's best-known pools, with ranger programs on winter minus tides; the tidepool lot closes at 4:30 pm.
- Sunset Cliffs, Ocean Beach — Ledges and pools below the cliffs at low tide; use the stairways and mind the swell.
- False Point, Pacific Beach — A reef between Bird Rock and Tourmaline where Birch Aquarium naturalists lead walks on good lows.

Best time of year
The lowest daytime tides cluster around new and full moons — early mornings in late spring and summer (May–July), and mid-to-late afternoon during the late-fall and winter king-tide cycles (November–January).
