Tidepooling near Hilo
- Richardson Ocean Park — Black-sand coves and lava pools at the end of Kalanianaole Ave; turtles graze the shallows.
- Carlsmith Beach Park — Spring-fed lagoons and protected pools in the lava rock.
- Onekahakaha Beach Park — A shallow, sand-bottomed pool complex that's Hilo's family favorite.
